Two films that have done Tamil cinema proud 'Soorarai Pottru' and 'Asuran' have been selected for screening at the prestigious 78th Golden Globe Awards 2021 in the Best Foreign Film category. The screenings will take place from January 2021 while the awards ceremony will be on March 1st 2021.

'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara has Suriya who also produced the film as a common man who achieves his dream of becoming an air fleet owner based on the true-life story of Air Deccan founder G.R. Gopinath.

'Asuran' adapted from the novel Vekkai by Poomani is directed by Vetrimaaran and has Dhanush as a middle aged lower caste man who avenges the killing of son by upper class men. The film also had Manju Warrier as Dhanush's wife and Ken Karunas as the younger son.

Both 'Soorarai Pottru' and 'Asuran' have music score by G.V. Prakash Kumar and both share another commonality which is gaining both critical and commercial success.
