What is it?
Reliance Entertainments and Jigsaw Entertainments's `Sooper Se Ooper', directed by debutant Shekhar Ghosh is Vir Das's first solo release. It also stars Kirti Kulhari, Gulshan Grover, Deepak Dobriyal and Yashpal Sharma, among others. The music has been composed by Sonu Niigam & Bickram Ghosh who debut as a music duo in Hindi films and has quirky fusion BGM from Ranjit Barot.
The movie Sooper se Ooper is based on an Indian superstition ' that making a will (legal document) is an indication that that your time has come near'. The story revolves around the character of Vir Das, whose fortune has dwindled and selling his ancestral property may just be the way out of the situation but he runs into a problem as the ancestral land was not willed to him by his parents. Filmed in brilliant Rajasthan and gritty Mumbai, the story takes an interesting and entertaining turn during the journey from village to city and vice-versa.
The Story Outline
Ranvir's fortune is in dumps and selling his ancestral land in Mumbai is the only way to survive and Kukreja who has put all on stake has to get this land to stay away from the wrath of a 'bhai' and also achieve his dream of becoming a builder eventually!
For both Ravir and Kukreja this plot of land means everything and has to be got any which way. But the key to the land is Ranvir's mama Madho Singh Rathore, in Mandawa. Since the will wasn't made in Ranvir's name, so Mama has to give the NOC. Ranvir has to get his Mama to Mumbai within a month and Kukreja has to stop him from reaching Mumbai.
We see the transformation of our protagonist Ranvir from a materialistic city youth to someone who is all for family and values and antagonist Kukreja from a 'dalla' to a gangster through this journey, which has some other real & funny characters as well.
In the first half the city goes to a village and in the second the village comes to the city.
