Sony has already announced its big plans for its next-generation console PlayStation 5 but it looks like it might face an issue in India. Sony's Playstation 5 was announced for a global launch on November 12 and in India it was expected to go on sale later the month.
Despite being a pandemic time, Indians are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from the company about the actual release date or even announce an available date to start pre-booking in the country. However, there have been no further updates from the company. Well, we have now got a not so happy news for the gaming enthusiasts.
Reportedly, there may be a delay in launching the PS5 in India because a Delhi resident named Hitesh Aswani has already nabbed the trademark. As reported by The Mako Reactor, publicly viewable documentation, proves that Hitesh Aswani has filed a PS5 trademark application in India on October 29, 2019, due to which Sony cannot sell its latest PlayStation 5 under the PS5 moniker in the country.
Sony had filed an application for it back on February 6, 2020. The filing is currently contested and even though the company is eventually expected to win the case, the issue at hand could delay the launch of the PS5 in India. It is reported that we may be looking at a post-Diwali launch of PS5.
PlayStation 5 is the most powerful console from Sony to have been launched to date. It uses hardware based on the latest architecture and also promises next-gen graphics and support for up to 8K resolutions. Though PS5 India price has not been revealed it is reported that PS5 will be priced at Rs 55,000.
