A young patient by the name of Bharti (25) had to be moved from Nagpur to Hyderabad for a surgery. She is a coronavirus patient who is suffering from complications. Sonu Sood, who has been making news since last year by pioneering humanitarian efforts, has sponsored her airlifting.

Going into details, Bharti had lost almost 85-90% of her lungs due to the virus. Doctors at Nagpur's Wockhardt Hospital advised that she needed a lung transplant at Hyderabad's Apollo Hospital.

When Sonu Sood came to know about it, he chipped in with help. There is a special treatment called ECMO and the 'Acharya' actor is taking care of the same.

"The entire setup for this ECMO treatment had to come from Hyderabad with the 6 doctors, a day in advance. Then only the airlift had to be done in an air ambulance. Sonu's help was timely," a source says.

Sonu felt that a 25-year-old young girl should be helped come what may. "That’s why we took this chance and we decided to get an air ambulance and the best team of doctors in the country to treat her. The treatment is going well," he said.

It's said that this kind of airlifting of a covid patient is perhaps the first instance in the country.
