Sonu Sood gets rare international honor for his humanitarian work during coronavirus pandemic

Sonu Sood has got a new feather in the cap. The multi-lingual actor, who has done a number of big-ticket films in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu, has been honoured with the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) prestigious SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award. This comes after he helped thousands of migrant workers reach their native places during the March-April-May lockdown and continues other humanitarian efforts.

The 'Osthe' actor arranged food, buses, trains and chartered flights for the stranded workers and became their hope in the toughest time and in spite of his villainous image on screen has become a true hero amongst the public.

It may be noted that the Award was in the past received by only one other actor in India which is Priyanka Chopra. Sonu Sood is now in the elite company of Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, and others who have received it in the past.

On the work front, Sood is currently at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City, shooting for 'Alludu Adhurs'. Starring Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, Nabha Natesh and Anu Emmanuel. In Tamil his next release is 'Thamizharasan' starring Vijay Antony and Remya Nambesan with music score by Ilayaraja

Priyanka Chopra has congratulated Sonu Sood on Twitter Congratulations @SonuSood. So well deserved! You continue to do God’s work and it’s so inspiring to see. Thank you for all that you do.
