In a huge gesture, top airline carrier SpiceJet has dedicated a special aircraft to honour actor Sonu Sood for his unmatched contribution and efforts to help the stranded Indians reach their homes during the Coronavirus pandemic last year.

The airline presented special livery along with an image of the actor over a special Boeing 737 aircraft. Images of this unique aircraft with Sonu Sood's picture have turned viral.

SpiceJet CMD Ajay Singh said that they were proud to associate with Sonu Sood during the pandemic and called the special aircraft as a tribute to the actor's selfless efforts and thank him for the exemplary work to help millions during the pandemic. Joining hands with Sonu Sood, spicejet repatriated 1500 Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan and many Indian nationals stuck in Russia, Uzbekistan, Manila, Almaty etc.

Responding to this gesture, Sonu Sood said “To be honest, I am quite taken aback by his huge honour. This is a really sweet and touching gesture on Spice Jet’s part and I am overwhelmed with such a lovely present. I hope that I can keep making everyone proud with my work. I am also thankful to Spice Jet for their effort of bringing back so many Indians from different parts of the world safely to their homeland during the pandemic.”
