Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath recently met several stalwarts of Hindi cinema during his Mumbai visit and discussed the idea of making a film city in Noida and issues like the ongoing boycott Bollywood trend. Playback singer Sonu Nigam, who was also a part of the meeting, was later asked to share his views on both these issues.
Talking about boycott Bollywood trend, Sonu told India Today, "Mai tucche logo ko apni baate kyu batau (Why should I talk to people who don't matter). Why should I talk to those who won't understand what I have to say. Everyone should just keep their heads down and move ahead - both artists and people on social media." The singer also refrained to speak on the Besharam Rang controversy which is going on these days.
When asked about the idea of developing a film city in Uttar Pradesh, Sonu said, "We have seen a lot of changes in Uttar Pradesh over the years. My family also belongs to UP so keep hearing first hand news from them. There has been a lot of safety and peace there. People have started understanding. There are now talks about opening a film industry there which is very good. Mumbai is everyone's mother. People start learning from here, they struggle here. I learned how to work hard here. We learn the work culture in Mumbai. If a film city opens in UP, it won't affect Maharashtra."
