This is yet another melody from Thaman that comes close on the heels of 'Mandara' ('Bhaagamathie') and 'Allasani Vaari' ('Tholi Prema'), also rendered to a mellifluous effect by Shreya Ghosal. When the title of the song plays out, it's easy to see the influence of an extant melody.

Ramajogayya Sastry's lyrics are laced with profound meaning. Some of the beautiful phrases are : 'Ikapaina iddariki oka pranam', 'Cheliya veelunte gatham antha cheripi', 'Anni dorikay nee chiru navvu lo' and 'Mana premaku maru janmai chiguristunna'.

While Shreya's vocals come across as if they are tailor-made for Shriya Saran, Jubin Nautiyal's style is in contrast to his female counterpart. This is a welcome change.

'Gayatri', also starring Mohan Babu (in dual roles), Vishnu Manchu and Nikhila Vimal, will hit the screens on Feb 9.
