Song Review: Laka Laka Lakumikara (Devadas)

'Laka Laka Lakumikara' is that song that fulfills multiple purposes. It humanizes the lead men (Nagarjuna and Nani) with its philosophical doses, it gives the audience a boisterous number without a situation having to be forced into the script (festival is the situation, nothing more is needed), and it effects nostalgia that such Ganapathi songs always induce.

Ramajogayya Sastry's lyrics are inventive. They are NOT routine and that's the best part. The lines 'Oh kanta challani jaali, maru kanta aagraha keli, gadidaati nadiche bhoomi nadakanu chooputho sarididdara saami' could be our prayer, not just lyrics.

Anurag Kulkarni and Sri Krishna render the song with vigour. Mani Sharma gives a generic music that won't last long.

'DevaDas', directed by Sriram Aditya, will hit the screens on Sept 27. Its music album is out, one song at a time, on Aditya Music.
