Actress Sonam Kapoor remembered real life hero Neerja Bhanot on her death anniversary on 5th of September. She shared a post about Neerja which was originally posted in 2019. It featured a photo of Neerja with words 'Courage never looked prettier'. Caption on the post read, "Her life was a gift to us all. #RememberingNeerjaBhanot."
Neerja Bhanot was flight attendant for Pan Am Airlines who became a symbol of courage and selfless sacrifice after she laid down her life during a plane hijacking while trying to save the hostages. She was awarded the highest gallantry honour of India i.e, Ashok Chakra. Sonam portrayed Neerja in a biopic of the same name.
The film directed by Ram Madhvani was released in 2016 and it also starred Shabana Azmi, Jim Sarbh and others. It was a commercial and critical success as it won multiple national and Filmfare awards. Sonam Kapoor has been away from silver screen for a while now. She will soon be seen in a film titled 'Blind'.
