For the 4th consecutive year the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2015 that celebrates Indian cinema internationally kick started from 14th to 27th August 2015 in Melbourne. With huge Bollywood personalities like Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan and so on, the red carpet of this much talked about event was simply dazzling. The festival being themed around equality this year has none other than Vidya Balan as the brand ambassador yet again.
Keeping in sync with the festival's theme, women through all walks of life walked the ramp while the showstopper, a diverse personality herself - Sonam Kapoor dressed in Anamika Khanna left the audience in complete awe. Meanwhile at the unique Master class session, the Kapoor father daughter, Shoojit Sircar, Shonali Bose and many other personalities spoke vividly about Indian cinema at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and ended their informative Master class with a thunder of applause and appreciation from each and everyone present!
Proceeding with the festival, just like a Bollywood movie, no Indian film festival is complete without a catchy dance number. Following this tradition, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is hosted their very own Bollywood dance competition. Judging this dance competition was the talented team of 'Katti Batti' that included Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan and Nikhil Advani.
With a few days remaining for the festival to come to an end, it still has some exciting activities in store. Apart from feature film like Phantom which premiers on the 27th this film festival also gives a platform to independent and small budget films like Umrika and Dhannak, which will premiere at the festival as well. On the other hand, widely appreciated documentaries on India by Australian legend Paul Cox and the newly restored classic of Satyajit Ray- Charulata and Nayak will also be featured in the master-stroke section.
With an aim to acknowledge these talented people and their contribution to the Indian film industry, The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne has and always will remain a joyous event celebrating the Indian cinematic experience overseas.
