On June 23 in Mumbai, Sonakshi Sinha and long-time partner Zaheer Iqbal celebrated their civil marriage followed by a lavish reception with stars. The couple revealed ideas about their low-key wedding choice in an interview with Galatta India. Zaheer said he had thought about eloping with Sonakshi but discovered such marriages are not legal in India. "I wanted to elope," he continued, "simply bounce to another country, get married, and return back. But it's not authorized; you cannot visit Las Vegas and get married."
Sonakshi said, "That idea was scrapped then. I have always desired a quite small-scale wedding. And Zaheer was good with it as long as our closest friends and relatives were present.
Sonakshi revealed her delight over marrying Zaheer in another interview. She remarked, "apart from that I now live with my best buddy, nothing much has changed in my life. That's the most exciting aspect; everything else is natural. That's what great relationships accomplish; they do not cause you to alter personally. Good life is what we have. He's quite beautiful. I count myself as a lucky girl.
Attended by close friends and relatives, their private wedding took place at Sonakshi's Mumbai house. The celebration carried on with a lavish dinner at Bastian attended by prominent guests like actress Kajol and director Sanjay Leela Bhansaly. Before getting married, the couple—who starred together in the 2022 film "Double XL—had been together for seven years.
