Though his Mayakkannadi has not made it big at the box office, actor-director Cheran is a happy man. Two of his films has gone ahead to win National award. Cheran's Thavamai Thavamirundhu and Aadum Koothu have won special awards.

According to Cheran, “I dedicate this award to my fans. They motivated me to come up with different movies”.

On Thavamai Thavamirundhu being selected as the best film in Family Welfare category, Cheran says, “I knew well when it was underproduction that it would win an award. I expected Rajkiran to win the award for best supporting actor. Unfortunately he missed it”.

The actor-director is currently shooting for Pirivom Sandhippom directed by Karu Pazhaniappan. Sneha plays his heroine.
