Despite releasing in a time which is not favourable for Bollywood movies, Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' has turned out to be a commercially successful venture. It has collected around 425 crore rupees against a budget of 410 crore rupees but it is being considered a success because this seemingly large budget will also be used for the upcoming two films in the trilogy.
In a recent media interaction, Karan Johar stated that the team of 'Brahmastra' has built and acquired assets which will be used for the sequel and subsequently for the third part in the trilogy so it would be wrong to allocate the whole budget to just one movie. In the same conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Karan also stated how insiders from the film industry wanted his film to become a failure.
Speaking at a public event a while ago, Karan had talked about how the success of 'Brahmastra' is much more than just the financial aspect. He said, "We were not looking at numbers of figures. We wanted people to accept this world because there is so much more to come. The numbers are very important, but to us, the most important thing is that we get to make part 2 and part 3. When we knew we were home for those important decisions for Brahmastra, that was it. You only make part 2 when part 1 gets love and accepted and that’s what has happened.”
