Shankar's Snehithudu, which is a remake of the Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots, is all set to be released on the 26th of January. The movie is a dubbed version of the Tamil film Nanban, which has been doing well since its release for Pongal. Starring Vijay, Jiiva and Sriram in the roles of three college buddies, Snehithudu has Illeana reprising Kareena Kapoor’s role, while Satyaraj is reprising Boman Irani's.

The film’s music, by Harris Jayraj, was released recently. According to the producers, Gemini Film Circuit, the audio has been receiving great response across the State. "Following the audio's success, we are planning to release the film on a big scale,” they said. The film offers Vijay, the Mahesh Babu of Kollywood, an opportunity to become familiar with the Telugu audience.

"Nanban has been a big hit in Tamil. It is being released in Telugu as Republic Day gift. I hope that Snehithudu will give me a break as a hero. I feel lucky to have worked with a great director like Shankar", the top actor averred.

There is no one who has not watched 3 Idiots. Yet, Snehithudu has a lot of interest going for it just as Shankar's films have always enjoyed in Andhra Pradesh. The very popular 'Balatkar' character from the film has been dubbed by ‘Poola Rangadu’ Sunil. Looks like there is lot to watch out for in this one.
