Recently, there was a controversy over a speech made by actress Jyothika in an award function, where she had made an appeal to consider schools and hospitals on par with temples, and requested people to financially support the development of hospitals and schools as well.

Jyothika's statement came after she had made a visit during the shoot of her upcoming movie to the Government Mirasudhar Hospital in Thanjavur which was badly maintained. While her statement was criticised by several political and religious outfits, Suriya issued a statement in support of her.

Now in a shocking turn of events, a woman was bit by a deadly snake in the same Government Mirasudhar Hospital mentioned by Jyothika to have been maintained poor,  and after the hospital premises was cleaned,  10 poisonous snakes were caught. With the observation made by Jyothika being genuine, the dangerous situation prevailing in the hospital has shocked people.
