Smart publicity for MMPAW

This is an age when placing a movie in the market is even more critical than filming it, whether its a biggie like 'Mangal Pandey - The Rising' or a small movie like 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara'. It all depends upon how the makers go about the publicity of the movie at every phase and get it ready for the target audience as the release day approaches.
In this regard makers of Main Meri Patni Aur Woh have come up with a smart publicity campaign for the last 4-6 weeks. Distributed by PVR pictures, people were fist made aware about the movie when its promos were shown during the movies running at PVR chain of theatres. This way the market for multiplex visiting audience was captured as there was a positive response to the promos.
Instead of going by the routine song'n'dance and talkie promos on the small screen over 2-3 months duration, the publicity was kept simple with in-theatre promos and some minimal publicity on the telly. Further to this, since the movie is a light hearted comedy, further market for an audience looking for such movies was captured through Star One's popular show 'The Great Indian Comedy Show' where the main characters from the movie - Rajpal Yadav and Rituparna Sengupta - acted for a few episodes as the characters from the movie. This further resulted in high awareness.
Now on the day movie is getting released, the starcast of the movie is interacting with the media and general public in the Delhi PVR chain where the movie is being screened.
A smart publicity indeed!
