Small producers will become Naxalite-like rebels: Producer Rao

Producer Chadalavada Srinivas Rao has lashed out at the existence of a particular producers body in the Telugu film industry. He called LLP a threat to the financial stability of small producers.
"LLP has become a cancerous growth. A small producer has to pay this body of producers a certain commission when he wants to release a movie in theatres. To play ads, he has to pay a commission to LLP. This is something that doesn't exist in any film industry," Srinivas Rao lamented, accusing four big producers of perpetuating an unhealthy trend in the industry.
Rao opined that the Film Chamber of Commerce and the Producers Council are the only well-wishers of small producers.
He made a reference to the recent threat by cine workers belonging to 24 crafts to go on an indefinite strike if wages were not hiked with immediate effect. "Thanks to the involvement of the Chamber, Cinematography Minister T Srinivasa Yadav garu and some producers, the issue got resolved before it went out of control," Rao said. He drew a contrast with how heavyweights in the film industry take a flight to Andhra Pradesh to get cinema ticket price issue resolved without taking the film industry along in some cases.
"I am not speaking for myself alone. I am venting my frustration on behalf of all small producers. The LLP is ominous. If it continues to be in existence, a lot of small producers are going to face extinction. Due to high theatrical rents, small films are unable to sustain themselves for even a couple of days. If this continues, small producers will become rebels who are like Naxalites," Rao added.
