Madhu Kaithapram, the National award winner for the best debutant director last year, is lamenting that small films are getting no support, be it from the industry, cinema theatres or media. He has a reason to feel so as his latest movie ‘Madhya Venal’ is in theatres now with limited crowds. Many theatres including the govt owned ones, Kairali and Sree are not ready to show the movie on a regular basis, at least for a couple of weeks.

The director who was at Calicut Press Club yesterday even sited an incident when some of the theatres removed the movie after screening it for just two times.

Though the crowds are not seen before the halls, the movie has already fetched good reviews from the cinephiles .The movie featuring Manoj K Jayan and Swetha Menon has a simple, but powerful story set in a political backdrop. The movie also showcases one of the strong female protagonists, a working class women of north Malabar, which is providing ample space for Swetha Menon to display her acting talents.
