She burst into the consciousness of the Tamil film fans as a curvaceous, svelte heroine several summers ago.

But Mumtaj didn't get the kind of roles that she would have hoped for after that.

With Kushi, Mumtaz re-invented herself as a glamour puss.

Later with Maleh Maleh song, she became a cult glamour star.

But then again, life was not all that smooth as she would have hoped for.

Mumtaj burn her fingers with an ill-advised foray into film production.

Later, she was also dragged into a controversy in which she really did not have a role.

By this time, she also put on lot of weight, and in this age of reedy-thin heroines, it was literally an extra baggage.

But now Mumtaj seems to have put all that behind her now. The bitterness of the past is all gone.

‘I am looking forward to starting a fresh,’ she says. Reflecting her confident state of mind, Mumtaj looks very slimmed down and is oozing glitz and glamour. She is currently acting in a movie named Jerry, which has Ramesh playing the hero.

It is a fun movie (dialogues by Crazy Mohan). And the fun also seems to have started again for Mumtaj.
