Malayalam film is finally extending its hands to young directors who could change the trends of the industry.
After Roshan Andrews, Anwar Rasheed and Blessy who are the only three to make it big in the last five years, a few are trying their luck this year as innovative film directors in Malluwood. One of the prominent youth among them is Prasad Yadav who has debuted in Tamil early with a film called Bommai which earned rave reviews. Now he is into Malluwood with Sketch which tells the story of the underworld.
The film tells the story of Sivahari Iyer, who is his son of Parthasarathy Iyer, (Jagathy) a well known criminal lawyer. Siva is an intelligent, hard working and soft spoken young man. His father hoped he would become a magistrate some day. But Siva ends up becoming a criminal, albeit a good-hearted one.
The two leading mafia groups of the Cochin city were the ones those were led by ex M.L.A. Alexander Nambaadan(Vijayaraghavan) and Chandrasekhara Reddy (Rajan P Dev). It all starts with Shiva deciding to appear for a case for a group from the underworld. Parthasarathy Iyer, who dislikes his son's new forte scolds him and sent him out of his office. But Shiva finally reaches the den of mafia groups who control the city and is forced to become a member.
Lakshmi, an orphan brought up in St. Teresa's Orphanage, while studying for her pre-degree meets Siva. She is drawn to the gentle and innocent young man. But their affection does not grow into a love affair but he extends his support for her in all her needs. But she cannot believe it when she learns that Siva has become a goonda. She tries to bring him round. The story further revolves around how she succeeds to bring back the real soft guy in Shiva who fears god and stands for good.
The film which is fashioned as a full length action thriller is hot like recent Tamil flicks. The racy action scenes are directed by Minnal Murukan who has directed stunt scenes for 15 films in Tamil. Saiju Kurup (of Mayookham fame) plays the lead role of Siva, while Sindhu Menon does the role of Lakshmi. The other prominent starts of the film include Karate Raja, Vijayakumar , Sobha Mohan and Santhakumary.
Kannur Raman realizes the script of the film based on a story by Senthil Viswanath. The music department is handled by Vayalar Sharath and debutant music director Prakash. The film produced by Dinesh Harsha is all set to reach the theatres by the end of this month.
Sketch, which promised to provide something new to the regular proceedings of Malluwood with a new director, cinematographer and scriptwriter, has not lived up to the expectations
