Siya debuted to Telugu cine with Puri Jagannath’s ‘Neninthe’ starring Ravi Teja in the lead. The Mumbai actress has received accolades for her performance in the movie and she had captivated the audience with her glam looks. On a exclusive interview to indiaglitz.com, the jubilant actress speaks all about her first stint, the movie and her future aspirations.

How did you get this opportunity?

I was modeling for two years and was also looking after my studies. I was quite busy with my board exams, when I got a call from the makers. I came for the audition and that’s it. I signed up for ‘Neninthe’.

What were the aspects that impressed you in the script?

The important aspect that appealed me is it’s about the youth of present generation. How do people think these days form the crux and it also tells the life in film industry. It’s really exciting to be a part of such a movie. Being in the cinema to act and working behind the screen is quite different and not quite easy as we might imagine.

What is your character in this movie?

My character is of a group dancer in the movies. She’s working as a back dancer because to support and overcome her family’s financial problems. She aspires to be become a heroine and during the time she falls in love with an assistant director. The rest is all about how our relationship gets thick and how we achieve our dreams.

Most heroines look for glamorous role and what made you take up a role like this?

You cannot mark or relate this as a glamour oriented role. It’s more realistic about what’s cinema. Everybody sees glamour on the screen and they know that is film industry. But, it’s not just that, people will see both of my sides, a traditional simple middle class girl and a glamorous co-artist. The role demands for certain parts and I did. So, it was good.

How was it working with a star like Ravi Teja?

He is my co-star and he’s simply amazing. He is so grounded. He’s so poised on the sets and I don’t know how he manages to act so well. He’s been in the industry for a long time and it was very comfortable working with him. He’s kind of too cute to work with (giggles). He’s very nice.

How did you feel while acting in Telugu as your mother tongue is different?

It was a little difficult, no doubt about that during the start. But, then I think I just got a hang of it and then my style started getting very good. I think that was really nice that I learnt a bit of Telugu and managed to emote on screen.

Can you share an incident that gave you a hard time because of the language?

I had a very difficult scene with Ravi. I just have to shout, yell, scream and get very angry on him as per the script. During the scene, I was very nervous as it had such lengthy dialogues. So, I had a little bit of problem there. But I managed somehow. And it was a nice scene in the movie (laughs), of mine actually because all of his are good.

Did you have any hurdles while shooting?

We didn’t have any issues. Not really. The only time was when we were stuck in Bangkok where the airports were shut due to some issues. We couldn’t come back. But, even then it happened only after we were done with the shooting schedules. The movie was completed by then. So, technically speaking, we never faced any problem during the movie.

What were the locations in which the film was shot?

The filming was carried out in Saradhi Studios here in Hyderabad. Half of the film was done here. I think almost the entire movie as it was based on a real life plot. To do justice to the script, most of it was done in the studio sets. The songs were shot in Switzerland and Bangkok.

Tell as about the music of ‘Neninthe’ and music director Chakri

The music director has done a really brilliant job. His composition is so good and every song is different from one another. And the highlight is the feeling that these songs bring into you. It’s like an aura that makes you feel like listening to the songs again and again. The music is one of the best things of ‘Neninthe’.

Which song do you hum the most?

I often sing the song ‘Krishna nagare mama’. Nuvante is one more favorite. My song in which I feature will also be my most favorite for selfish reasons (smiles). But, I like ‘Krishna nagare’ as it depicts the life of people in the industry.

Comment about the cinematographer’s work.

Sham garu is so amazing and his work is cool. I have started addressing him as garu as he won’t talk much and quite reserved in the sets. He won’t greet anyone but he knows exactly what his job is. He can make you look beautiful on screen with his cinematography skills. If I look good on screen, all credit goes to him. He’s the one who portrayed me like that and all my emotions in its natural state. I don’t know how to look on screen nor pose proper but he knows which is best and decides it for me.

Can you sing your favorite song for us?

(Laughs) I can’t sing a song. If I sing it will be a disgrace and might spoil it. It will be prestigious to leave it aloof rather than singing it badly. You can listen to it. The music is out.
