After the first quarter of the twentieth century, when Tamil cinema started taking its baby steps, there has always been two mega stars ruling the roost and what is really intriguing is the fact that all of the pairs have been known by names that had three letters in Tamil language or initials in English. To name them it was MKT-PUC (M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar-P.U. Chinappa), Sivaji-MGR, Rajini-Kamal, Vijay Ajith and more recently Simbu-Dhanush.

After close to a hundred years it looks like history has been rewritten by current hot favorite matinee idols of Tamil cinema. Both Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi have nine and seven letters in their names in Tamil and even in their initials its only two letters SK and VS. The long running chain has finally broken?
