Courts decision in case demanding Sivakarthikeyan to give up salary for Prince

Ayalon, Don and DoctorVenkatesh, the managing director of TAG Entertainment Company, filed a civil case in Madras High Court in 2019 against K.J.R. Studio and 24 A.M. He stated that the production houses had taken a loan of Rs. 5 crores for the production of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer 'Hero' directed by Mohan Raja. He alleged that the loan was unpaid and along with interest amounted to rupees 6 crores 92 lakhs 50 thousand.

Tag Entertainment filed an additional petition asking the court to order the payment of Sivakarthikeyan's salary for the recently released film 'Prince' for the amount due from KJR Studios that was outstanding. It was cited that the leading actor was involved in the production of 'Ayalaan', 'Don' and 'Doctor'.

When this case came up for hearing today before Judge C. Saravanan, advocate Vijayan Subramanian appeared on behalf of Sivakarthikeyan and argued that his client served only as an actor in the film 'Prince' and received salary for that and had nothing to do with the production of the film. He also argued that Tag Entertainment Company has filed this petition with the intention of damaging the reputation of Sivakarthikeyan in the film industry and is also harrassing him. Hence he prayed for the petition to be dismissed.

After examining the Censor Board certificates that proved that Sivakarthikeyan was not the producer of all five films mentioned. and listening to arguments from both sides, Justice Saravanan, dismissed Tag Entertainment's plea. In his order he stated that since it was established that Sivakarthikeyan had nothing to do with Prince's production work, the court could not order him to pay his salary.

Sivakarthikeyan is currently shooting for 'Maaveeran' directed by Madonne Aswhin in which Aditi Shankar is the leading lady and Mysskin the chief antagonist. He will soon begin shooting for 'SK 21' produced by Kamal Haasan and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy in which he will be romancing Sai Pallavi.
