Actor Sivakarthikeyan's long-delayed film 'Rajinimurugan' was scheduled to release on December 4 after long struggles but the rain gods played the spoilsport. The release of the film directed by Ponram of 'Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam' fame had to be postponed at the last moment as severe rains were lashing out in Chennai and a few other parts of Tamil Nadu
Now it has been officially announced that the film will come out as a Pongal 2016. Posters of 'Rajinumurugan' bearing the release date as 'January 14' have been published officially.
The film has been produced by N.Lingusamy under the Tirrupathi Brothers banner. It stars Sivakarthikeyan and Keerthy Suresh in lead roles. Rajkiran, Soori and Samuthirakani appear in important characters.
The film is touted as a rural-based family entertainer with more importance for comedy, on the lines of 'Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam'.
