There's always an interesting story behind all our names. Our name must have been borrowed from our ancestors, world leaders, international sport persons, or it could have been derived from our parent's lost love. Some would not have concrete reason to explain why they carry a specific name.

Director Shankar went on explain the reason behind his name in an interesting manner in a recent function. He said, my mom was an ardent fan of, Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan. I was born on the day where she watched one of his movies and his character name was, Shankar. And, that is how I got the name from him. I have always wanted to make a movie with him and I wrote the dad's character in 'Kaadhalan' keeping him in my mind. But I was not sure whether that role would suffice the great actor's appetite. Though I was not able to cast him in any of my movies, I felt good by naming the Superstar starrer as 'Sivaji'.
