Legendary actor Svaiji Ganesan's memorial constructed by the Tamil Nadu Government at a cost of Rs.2.80 crores will be unveiled on October 1, 2017 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the indomitable Nadigar Thilagam. The Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palanisamy has issued an order regarding this. He has also said that the Information and Publicity Minister Sellur K.Raju will unveil the memorial while Fisheries Minister D.Jayakumar will preside over the function. This means neither the CM nor the deputy CM will be gracing the occasion.
Disappointed by this, the family of the late actor represented by his son and actor Prabhu has sent a letter to the Information and Publicity minister in which he has requested that the Chief Minister and all the state government dignitaries including Ministers, Mps and MLAs should attend the memorial opening ceremony of the great actor.
Here is the copy of the letter sent by Prabhu and his family:
"To Respected Minister of I&B .Tamilnadu ;
Mr Honourable Minister sir ; Appa's memorial was the Great Purachi Thalaiva Amma's dream project ; And if she was alive, she would have presided this opening & done justice to our legendary Father Nadigar Thilagam's athma. As much as we are happy about our TN government opening our respected father Mr Sivaji Ganesan's memorial ; we are disappointed that the our CM or Deputy CM of Our Tamilnadu are not attending the Great Actor's memorial opening ; he through his movies has done so much for Tamil culture & The Great Tamil language ; so please sir ; we feel this kind of a small function for our father is kind of disrespecting him ; Please do reconsider about asking the CM & all ur govt dignitaries to please attend the Great Tamil Actor's memorial opening it is a humble request sir our family as well as thousands of Sivaji Ganesan fans are waiting for a favourable reply from u sir.
Your's sincerely ,
Prabhu & all Sivaji Family & fans":
