Sitara Film Awards Presented

Sitara TV, the general entertainment channel in Telugu was launched by Asianet Television network in October. The channel hosted its first films awards on 25th January at Hyderabad. The award night was studded with a galore of celebrities from the film fraternity. Films were awarded based on two categories namely Jury awards and Popular awards. The Jury awards were decided by the critics while the other was based on public opinion.

‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ received accolades by bagging various awards on different categories of Best Film in popular awards, Best music director (Mickey J Meyers), Best lyricist (Seetha Rama Sastry), Best supporting actress (Jayasudha) in Jury and also the Vivel Fresh face award for Swetha Basu Prasad.

‘Gamyam’ was crowned as the Best film and Krish as the Best director by the jury team. Ravi Teja (Neninthe) was awarded as Best actor, Genelia as Best Actress (Ready), Best debut actor and actress for Nani and Madhavi Latha respectively. Brahamanadam won the award for Best actor in comic role.

In the popular category, the awardees are Best director Sreenu Vaitla (Ready), Best Actor NTR (Kantri), Best Actress Anushka (Chintakayala Ravi) and Krishunudu as Best debutant star. Devi Sri Prasad was awarded as the Best music director (Ready). The song ‘My heart is beating’ from ‘Jalsa’ was selected as the Big FM song of the year.

The honorary awards of NTR Award for Lifetime Achievement were given to Dasari Narayana Rao and LV Prasad Award for Contribution to Telugu Cinema went to D. Rama Naidu.

Eminent film personalities including Dasari Narayana Rao, Allu Arvind, Raghavendra Rao, D Rama Naidu, Sreenu Vaitla, ‘Dil’ Raju, Krishnavamsi, Ravi Teja, NTR, Allu Arvind, Ramcharan were present amongst others during this award function.
