Following a terrifying fall from the stage at a West End theatre, Sir Ian McKellen has shown hope regarding his rehabilitation and return to work. On Monday, the 85-year-old actor was performing in "Player Kings" at the Noël Coward theater when he fell during a battle scene, causing shouts for help because of agony.

In a recent statement, Sir Ian praised the NHS personnel for their treatment and noted the flood of support. He excitedly anticipated his return to work without mentioning a timeframe, so as to reassure his well-wishers of a complete and quick recovery.

Sir Ian was rushed right away to the hospital following the event, which resulted in the play's abrupt cancellation. Emphasizing their expectation of Sir Ian's full recovery and eventual comeback to the production, producers later announced a delay of performances until Thursday.

Beginning its 12-week run in London this April, "Player Kings," a performance of Shakespeare's "Henry IV, Parts One and Two," is scheduled to finish on Saturday before setting off a tour to Bristol, Birmingham, Norwich, and Newcastle. As John Falstaff, Sir Ian participated in a critical fight scenario involving the Prince of Wales and Henry Percy during the incident.

Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, theater personnel acted quickly and the venue was evacuated. Monday's performance was canceled overall; Tuesday's show was also canceled to give Sir Ian enough recuperation.

Producers also thanked the medical experts among the audience who helped Sir Ian, stressing his remarkable career spanning famous Shakespearean parts and memorable performances in movies such "Lord of the Rings," "The Hobbit," and "X-Men."
