`Singh is Kinng' comes across as one of the most hyped movies of the years for several reasons such as the budget , yet another Katrina-Akshay flick, Anees Bazmees next after the blockbuster `Welcome'. `Sing is Kinng' is director Anees Bazmee's fastest flick till date. Also the Vipul Shah angle as producer calls for more attention to this venture.
The album comprises 12 tracks of which six are remix versions. Pritam has been entrusted with yet another massive project that has been clearly driven towards the NRI audiences.
The much hyped album opens with a guest composition by UK based RDB composed by Calvin Broadus with Surjeet Singh, Manjeet Ral and Kuljeet Ral. With this track the movie album goes truly international by rap provided by the international rapper Snoop Dogg. The song which cost pparently over 1.5 crore omitting the song picturisation costs, proves vital for connecting with the NRI audience. The beats , the style and the Hinglish lyrics assures a hit here.
Now Pritam renders his Punjabi bit with `Jee karde' which opens with English lines by Suzie Q and the track is carried forward by Labh. The track no doubt has the folksy Punjabi beats and touch to it but offers nothing enchanting. It sums up to be a mediocre one. Remix too falls on the same lines.
Pritam now gives his rendition of the title track entitled `Bas Ek Kinng' which will favor more of the punjabi's at home. Mika Singh, Shridar Neeraj and HardKaur (who croons to the remix version) combine with Pritam on this one. This one is softer, slower and the lyrics here mean a lot. With the promotions on air , this one is already doing well. Wonder why the remix version is called the tiger mix?
`Bhootni Ke ` comes in as the answer for all Punjabi weddings and will soon be the flavor of the season. Pritam brings on Daler Mehndi to this one who gives his power packed voice and provides for an entertaining number. Lyrics by Mayur Puri are enthralling. The remix version by Dj Amyth works well. The twist comes as the track gets more rough and edgy with the `Tiger Mix' that fuses Mika singh behind the mike. It still lives up to the original.
Neeraj Shridar now combines with Labh for `Talli Hua' a song on high spirits. Looks like `talli is the flavor of the season with Mallika Sherawat grooving to Anu Malik's `Talli Hogayi' from `Ugly aur Pagli' and now its Akshay's turn. Here the original version is a bit of the drag but the remix version will provide for some dancing at a disco round the corner.
Finally comes `Teri Ore' , the only soft serenading track of the entire album. The track has got a certain enchanting experience primarily due to the voices involved-Rahat Fateh Ali and Shreya Ghosal. The lyrics by Mayur Puri draws you straight to
On the whole, the album comes across as a complete Punjabi album with lots to entice the Punjabi audiences and moreover the NRI's with especially the Snoop Dogg edition. With the intense Punjabi numbers we wonder whether it's Pritam `Singh' or `Chakraborthy'?
