"I am glad to see that my efforts have paid off and my album is on the number one slot today. It is the success of my one-man effort on all levels from the orchestration to the computer effects and the actual rendition of songs,"Nigam as saying.
The album comes four years after his music video "Yaad", following which he decided to take a break from the pop music scene.
"It was a deliberate move. That was the phase when there was an overdose of music videos in the market. Besides, I was experimenting on several fronts from playback singing to acting and anchoring musical programmes on television. I felt I needed to take a break in pop albums after having done six albums," he recalled.
"Chanda Ki Doli" was a sell-out from day one. The melodiously tuned numbers even led to speculation that Nigam was planning to turn a full-time music director.
"A lot of people were curious to know whether I was planning to compose more music. I am really not interested in giving music to films nor am I looking at such a possibility in the future. Even if I were to attempt something like that, the result would be mediocre," he said.
He's now actively spearheading the formation of an association for singers, which will take up their woes with producers and others and give them justice. "We are all working in that direction," he said.
