Legendary singer S Janaki has expressed dismay over death rumours about her. On Sunday, social media was agog with the lie that she is no more. Her son Murali Krishna squashed the rumours by informing everyone that his mother underwent surgery and that she is recuperating well. Later singer SP Balasubramaniam condemned the rumour mongers, calling out their "nonsense".

In an audio file doing the rounds on the Internet, Janaki herself has opened up on the rumour. "I was in Mysore when the rumour came out. Some jobless folks had spread the gossip about my death. I have had to spend my energies consoling worried fans who have been calling me up nonstop. This is the sixth time that the rumor mongers have killed me over the years," she said.

"Why do these people create such rumours? Can't they do some homework before writing unverified stuff? I am doing absolutely fine. I would urge everyone in Hyderabad to stay safe given the high incidence of coronavirus cases there," Janaki added.
