The sons of renowned Tamil singer Mano, Rafi and Shaqir, have been arrested by the Valasaravakkam Police in Chennai following an alleged assault on a college student. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, has shaken the city and cast a shadow over the singer's reputation.
The alleged assault took place after an altercation between Rafi, Shaqir, and their friends, Vignesh and Dharma, with a group of college students near a local eatery. According to reports, the students, including a 16-year-old boy from Alappakkam and a 16-year-old boy from Maduravayal, were returning from a football academy when the altercation occurred.
**The alleged assault was brutal, with videos surfacing on social media showing individuals wielding baseball bats and sticks. ** These videos, which have gone viral, depict the attack on a young man, identified as Kripakaran, who sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.
The Valasaravakkam Police have filed a case against Rafi, Shaqir, Vignesh, Dharma, and a fifth individual, Zaheer, under four sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita:
Section 126(2) (wrongful restraint)
Section 296(b) (obscene acts and songs)
Section 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt) or (grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means)
Section 351(3) (death threats or severe injuries)
While Rafi and Shaqir were initially absconding, a special police team was formed to track them down. They were eventually apprehended and taken into custody. The police are currently investigating the incident and searching for the other accused individuals, Vignesh, Dharma, and Zaheer.
The incident has sparked outrage among the public and cast a negative light on Mano's impeccable career. Mano, a celebrated singer and dubbing artist, has enjoyed a four-decade career spanning across multiple languages, earning him widespread recognition and admiration. This incident has, however, tarnished his legacy, leaving many questioning the actions of his sons.
The police investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what repercussions, if any, Rafi and Shaqir will face for their alleged involvement in the assault. The incident serves as a stark reminder that no one is above the law, regardless of their family's fame or influence.
