Singer Malavika busts fake news; Lodges police complaint

It's known that singer Malavika has tested positive for coronavirus besides singer Sunitha after participating in a TV show recently. There has been a rumour that Malavika had participated in the show despite knowing that she had contracted the virus. The singer has taken to social media to bust the rumour.

Malavika explained the series of events that took place before and after the show. "Let me state the facts as they are. SP Balu garu's episode was shot on July 30 with singers like Hemachanra, Karunya, Damini, Satya Yamini, Vasa Pavani and Malavika. I happened to be one of the four female singers on the second day of the shoot. Had I been positive, I could have easily passed it on to the three other female singers or the anchor with whom I shared the make-up room. My sister is not a singer and she lives in the US. How and why will she sing in that show?" she asked.

Malavika said that she and her family members have been taking extreme care since the onset of the pandemic. Despite that, she has contracted the virus.

Unfortunately, a few of her family members too have. "After I came to know that some members of the crew and SP Balu garu tested positive on August 5, I got myself tested and got the report on the 8th. As a safety precaution, I got everyone at home tested. Unfortunately, my father, my mother and my daughter have tested positive. My husband has tested negative," she added.

Malavika's dad is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad.

The singer has lodged a police complaint against those rumour-mongers who have been spreading fake news against her.
