Legendary singer K.S. Chithra is the reigning queen of playback singing in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam for several decades and her unique voice is one of the most recognizable among all generations. Chithra is married to Vijay Shankar and the couple's only daughter Nandana who was autistic passed away in Dubai on April 14th, 2011 when she was eight years old.
Chithra was in Dubai to participate in an A.R. Rahman show and Nandana who was left in their gated community villa was watching TV but had opened the unlocked door helped herself out and being fond of water went to the swimming pool but within minutes drowned herself.
Chithra has written an emotional and painful note on facebook that reads "I have heard people say that each birth has a purpose and will leave to the eternal world after finishing that purpose and they also say that time is a healer.but for the people who had gone through it will know it is not true.the wound is still raw and painful.miss you Nandana.". Fate is cruel that a person who delights millions with her talent has to suffer in pain in her private life.
