A popular singer from the Kannada film industry has committed suicide because of the troubles she had faced in her life post marriage, and this has left the industry in shock. A suicide note has been recovered, where she has mentioned the reasons behind the decision.

26 year old Kannada singer Sushmita had got married recently, and ever since she was married, Sushmita had been facing troubles from her in-laws who were demanding dowry. Sushmita had been hiding these tortures from her in-laws and now unable to bear the pressure has committed suicide.

Sushmita has left a suicide note where she has mentioned the people who are responsible for her suicide, and has also mentioned that legal action must be taken against them. She has also said that nobody from her husband's family must come for her final rites, and that only her younger brother must perform her final rites. Sushmita has apologized to her mother for the decision and has requested her to take care of her brother, in the letter.
