Chinmayi is a National Award-winning playback singer, who works in the south Indian film industry. She is also a voice actor, television presenter and radio jockey. Her recent Twitter post too stirred up a controversy in the cine arena.
In 2018, when the #MeToo movement picked up momentum in India, Chinmayi and some other female artists alleged complaints against the renowned lyricist Vairamuthu of being a sexual predator. Now, her latest tweet becomes a controversial topic as she took an indirect dig at Vairamuthu in the viral post.
Recently, a journalist shared a video in which we see the famous Youtuber Biriyani Man passing an unpleasant comment on a feminist for comparing men with dogs. This video caught Chinmayi's attention and she shared it, writing, This response is crass. Women are raised to be wary of everyone especially by their own fathers and brothers. Its not something new. This man will ALSO caution his future daughter to be ‘careful’.
A netizen responded to her tweet writing, come one don't be so selective and narrow minded. what about the fact, she just tagged all men as therunai and Chinmayi replied, Honestly - I think women and humans would find dogs more trustworthy than humans in general. As for me - I d be safer with a therunaai in a room than with a Radha Ravi or the tamizh poetttttuuu. Ask any woman. (sic).
Chinmayi is referring to Vairamuthu as 'Tamizh Poet' in her tweet. The singer took an indirect dig at the famous songwriter and also mentioned veteran actor Radha Ravi's name. This controversial tweet is now going viral on social media. It is to be noted that Chinmayi has been voicing out in support of all women ever since the Me Too movement.
Had no clue who this Biryani man is until today. But this response is crass.
