Singaravelan Review

Being a cinephile in Mollywood would definitely make you look for anything but logic in the films scripted by the most successful scriptwriting duo of Mollywood , Sibi K Thomas-Udhay Krissna. Repeating the same winning formulas with the least bits of logic is their new film `Sringaravelan' where they once again team up with director Jose Thomas, with whom they have made last year's big hit `Maya Mohini'.

With all the massy ingredients  packed for festival audiences, the movie has Dileep as Kannan, the son of weaver based in Kuthampully. Though he is in his thirties, he hasn't  decided about his life except not to do his family business. He has learnt fashion designing and is searching frantically for easy money with some friends like Vasu (Kalabhavan Shajon) and  Yesudas (Lal). But as Kannan is sent by his dad to a kovilakam, where the wedding of the heroine Radhu (Vedhika) is happening, everything goes for a toss and the ceremonies get affected  as Kannan starts to make an  impact in the mind of the heroine. What follows can be predicted even by a a school going kid.

Attempts on generating fun are what seems to be the intention behind the film. But the movie unbelievably fails big time to tickle the funny bone. The characters are sketched with all gaucheness, with a solid belief that the viewers here are ready to take anything for fun.The regular sequencing involving the ready to love lead lady, her villain father, the ever caring grandfather, hero's friends who masquerades as others, and the foolish policemen are all here stitched together in needed proportions.

It is only the lead actor in Dileep who manages to sail without  fail through turbulent times, especially in the later half, where the movie appear heavily dragging. He plays most of his trump cards, but not anything fresh. Lal's efforts to crack wits disappoint and so is Baburaj. Kalabhavan Shajon is good in parts  and the  heroine Vedhika oozes some freshness and glam quotient to the very regular narratives.

All in all, this Sringaravelan can be a nice option for hardcore fans of Dileep.
