`Singam Puli' is the next film of Jeeva in which he dons a double role for the first time. He plays the role of a lawyer and a fisherman. Divya Spandana and Honey Rose will be his heroines.
Santhanam, Livingston and Lakshmi Ramakrishnan also play important roles. Ponvannan, Kuyili, Pandu, Meera Krishnan and Manickam Vinayagam are also in the supporting cast.
The plot of Singam Puli is said to be the fight between an innocent fisherman Jeeva and the suave layer Jeeva who create troubles for the former using the similar look.
The film is written and directed by Sairamani for producers S. Parthiban and S.S. Vasan of the banner Silver Line Film Factory.
The debutant director Sairamani was trained under Suresh Krishna first and then SP Jananathan. So you can expect the entertainment in Suresh Krishna films and the social relevance in Jananathan films.
After `Kacheri Arambam' early last year, Jeeva didn't have a single release and his fans are eagerly waiting for this. However, he is going to have maximum releases for an actor this year. Singam Puli falls in the action genre and Jeeva is said to have done a tremendous job in his two roles.
Shooting of `Singam Puli' began early July 2009 and was completed by mid 2011. However the release was delayed due to various factors. The film was largely shot in Chennai, Hyderabad and Vizag. For the songs the unit went of course to foreign locations in Muscat, Bangkok Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Mani Sharma is the music director. Mani Sharma is a known face in Kollywood with films Shahjahan Youth, Pokkiri, Padikathavan, Sura etc. in his crest. The audio of `Singam Puli' was launched on January 3, 2011. Na. Muthukumar and Viveka have written the lyrics. Cinematography is by M. Bala Subramaniam
Singam Puli was first slated for release on Diwali day last year. But the special effects work weren't completed by then. The release was then postponed to December and that too could not be met. According to latest information `Singam Puli' is scheduled to release on this February 18.
