Kollywood is quick to make movies on latest happenings. It never misses out on contemporary happenings.

The movies on the likes of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, Sivakasi Jayalakshmi or the recent Tsunami are a proof to this.

So it is no surprise that a movie on the Kanchi Sankarachrayas was always on the cards. And it looks like it is materializing. The Kanchi Sankaracharyas, it may be remembered, have been citied as prime accused in a murder case.

According to Kollywood grapevine, Alaiadikuthu, a movie starring Sindhu Tholani and a newcomer Naveen Dhanush, is all about a religious head who is ultimately arrested for his wrong doings.

Telugu villain Ramireddy plays the religious head in the movie and stunt master Gilli Sekar plays the police officer investigating the case.

Debutant director Kalimuthu is making the movie.

After Sullan and Manmadhan, Sindhu Thulani oozes glamour in the movie in which she plays an important role.

But making a film on contemporary happenings is always fraught with dangers. And with the Sankaracharyas issue being a touchy one, the director has to walk a tight-rope as to not hurt the sentiments of millions of his followers.
