Actress Simran, one of the top heroines of the mid 90s had made her debut in Tamil cinema on this day, before 23 years. She had the fortune of having two releases - Once more and VIP on the same day, making it a double debut.

Starring Vijay and Sivaji Ganesan, Once more was directed by SA Chandrashekhar and VIP was a multistarrer directed by SD Sabha, starring Prabhu Deva, Abbas and Ramba, and both the movies received good response from audience.
