Superstar Rajinikanth's Darbar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, hit the screens across the world today and it has opened to positive reviews.

Simbu, who will be making his comeback to movies after a long break with Venkat Prabhu's political thriller Maanaadu, was seen returning from the theatre after watching the first show of Darbar today. A huge crowd had gathered around him and despite being in a hurry, Simbu said "Super" when he was asked about Darbar. The shooting of Maanaadu is expected to start in the third week of this month.

Shot in a Mumbai backdrop, Rajinikanth essays the role of a cop in Darbar, while Prateik Babbar, Suniel Shetty, Nivetha Thomas, and Yogi Babu have played significant roles. Produced by Lyca Productions, Anirudh has composed the music for the film.
