Director Venkat Prabhu is next directing the movie Maanaadu, which will have Silambarasan playing the lead role, and it was announced yesterday that the actor will be playing a character named Abdul Khaaliq. This movie is produced by Suresh Kamatchi's V House productions.

The latest update from the team is that actor Manoj Bharathiraja, who has acted in lead roles in movies like Tajmahal, Varushamellam Vasantham, Kadal Pookal has joined the cast of Maanaadu. Manoj's father, legendary director Bharathiraja is also playing an important role in the movie.

Maanaadu is a political entertainer which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Premgi, Karunakaran, SA Chandrasekaran and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The movie is expected to start shooting from next week in Sri Lanka and Simbu is getting ready with a new look for the movie.
