Simbu was last seen in 'Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu' as Muthu who emerges as a powerful North Indian gangster from being a poverty-stricken youngster. He will next play the role of the southern gangster AGR in the upcoming film 'Pathu Thala' directed by Obeli N Krishna.

Pathu Thala is a neo-noir action thriller starring STR, Gautham Karthik and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead roles. This movie was scheduled to hit the screens on December 14 earlier but the latest reports suggest that the team is going to reschedule the release date. The makers are yet to wrap up the entire shooting.

The crew finished filming the Hyderabad schedule recently and is all set to start the next schedule in Chennai soon. The Chennai schedule will go on for a week. Produced by Studio Green, Pathu Thala's release date will be finalized by November end. Kalaiyarasan, Teejay and Joe Malloori will be seen in supporting roles. AR Rahman is scoring music for the film.
