Simbu is unique as a leading hero who has a loyal fan following irrespective of whether his films release regularly or there is a long gap in between them. Controversies surrounding him also do not affect his fandom who defends him fiercely on social media.

Simbu during the lockdown days has concentrated on getting back in shape and he is said to have reduced from over a 100 Kgs to the mid 70 range. He has also undergone ayurvedic therapy to rid his body of toxins in Kerala which has brought about a glow to his skin as well.

Simbu was supposed to resume work on his 'Maanaadu' directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamachi but has pushed that to mid November and has instead opted to shoot a new movie directed by Suseenthiran. The shooting already started near Dindigul and Simbu just joined the sets.

Simbu meanwhile was spotted in Tirupati temple as well as the Madurai Meenachi Amman temple where he was completely covered and wearing a mask. It is said that the mass hero does not want his look for the new movie revealed before the first look poster as a treat to his fans.

STR's close circle say that he has been visiting temples and praying for the world to get rid of the coronavirus and also sought blessings for his yet another new innings in Kollywood. He is talks with several directors for future movies including Ram, Mysskin, Lokesh Kanagaraj and others.
