'Pathu Thala' is one of the upcoming projects of Simbu. The film is the Tamil remake of the Kannada blockbuster 'Mufti' and also stars Gautham Karthik in the lead role. While Silambarasan is playing a gangster in the film, Gautham Karthik will be seen as a cop.

'Sillunu Oru Kadhal' and 'Nedunchalai' fame Obeli N Krishna is helming 'Pathu Thala'. It is already known that Simbu's portions are pending and the other sequences are shot. The filming was supposed to resume in May month but the plans were shuffled due to the star actor taking care of his father T Rajendhar's health issue.

According to sources, STR is currently in the USA and he will be back to resume the shoot of 'Pathu Thala' in July. Reportedly, it is the film's final schedule, which is expected to go on for about 45 days and will be completed by August. Buzz is that the makers are planning for a Christmas release in December.

'Pathu Thala' also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Madras fame Kalaiarasan, Manushiyaputhiran and Asuran fame Teejay. AR Rahman is scoring music for the movie, which is being produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner. On the other hand, Simbu's 'Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu' is aiming for a release on August 18.
