Simbu one of the long standing mass heroes of Tamil cinema recently overcame yet another controversy regarding prioritizing his films. Ishari Ganesh of Vels Films International who had signed a three film deal with him wanted him to fufill the agreement before moving on to his next projects. Simbu was supposed to star in the comedy 'Corona Kumar' directed by Gokul but he opted out feeling that the subject would not be appealing to audiences two years after the pandemic subsided.
Simbu signed 'STR 48' with Kamal Haasan to be directed by Desingh Perisyamy in which he is reportedly playing dual roles as the hero and the villain. However Ishari Ganesh complained to the Producer Council to urge Simbu to complete his project first. The talks that were held on both sides resulted in an amicable solution and the hero has agreed for a project after completing his 48th.
Several directors were suggested by Ishari Ganesh to Simbu but according to latest reports the 40 year old multitalented star liked a subject narrated by Karthik Thangavel and its likely to be 'STR 49' for Vels. The young filmmaker impressed audiences with his action thriller 'Adanga Maru' starring Jayam Ravi released in 2018. Since then he was in talks with Vishal, Karthi and other heroes but nothing materialised. The official announcement on the Simbu-Karthik Thangavel- A.R. Rahman project is awaited.
Simbu after these two films will once again reunite with Kamal Haasan's banner for 'STR 50' directed by Mani Ratnam. Sources say it will be the first time that Simbu and Kamal will share screen space.
