Simbu is one front line star who does not hesitate to voice his opinions on any social issue however sensitive it is. He even convinced Karnataka people to give a glass of water to their Tamil neighbours to show their true spirit. A few weeks earlier Simbu sang the song "Periyaar Kuththu" the teaser of which was released to great response.

Simbu has shot for 'Periyaar Kuththu' over the weekend dressed in traditional attire of black and grey made famous by the revered Dravidian leader Thanthai Periyaar. The song has been penned by Madhan Karky and music scored by Ramesh Tamzhmani and is said to contain Periyaar's ideologies.

On the professional front Simbu has completed shooting for Mani Ratnam's 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam' costarring Vijay Sethupathi and others and will soon start shooting for Venkat Prabhu's 'Maanadu'.
