Simbu, who was last seen in Sundar C's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, is apparently all geared up for the shoot of his upcoming political-thriller Maanaadu, directed by Venkat Prabhu.
The director, who recently appeared in a TV show, reportedly stated that Maanaadu's script has been challenging as it is new for him as well as Simbu. He further added that the audience will get to witness Simbu in an unseen avatar. Maanaadu is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated upcoming movies and will mark the maiden collaboration of Simbu and Venkat Prabhu. Kalyani Priyadarshan, who began her venture in Kollywood with Sivakarthikeyan's Hero, will play the female lead in the movie. It is also being speculated that Aravind Swamy, who worked with Simbu in Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, has been roped in to play the antagonist in the movie, although there has been no official confirmation from the makers regarding the same.
It was announced in June 2018 that Venkat Prabhu had decided to launch Simbu in Maanaadu, produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the V House Productions banner. The producer later announced that Simbu, who refused to show up for the shoot, had been dropped out of the movie, as he could not afford any delay in the release. However, he recently made an announcement that Simbu was back on board and shooting will begin soon. Further updates from the team regarding the complete cast and crew of the film are awaited.
