Actor Simbu, who was last seen on screen in Sundar C's Vandhaa Rajavathaan Varuven had signed Venkat Prabhu's next movie Maanaadu next, and the movie which was supposed to begin shooting last year, had started shooting only this year.

However though the shoot began, it could not continue beyond a month due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown. Now, producer Suresh Kamatchi has made an official statement on the status of the movie, which also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan and SJ Suryah.
